Camp Island itinerary examples for families and friends
3 Night Stay
Day 1.
- Settle in, walk around the island and climb the hill for incredible views
- Afternoon swim in the pool
- Watch the sunset with sundowners on sunset beach
Day 2.
- Snorkelling & kayaking off the island
- Afternoon fishing off the jetty
- Campfire with marshmallows
Day 3.
- Watch the sunrise from the top of the hill
- Our expert Island caretakers can show you how to cast a net for live bait - and then use the bait to cast a line off the sand spit.
- Reel in some grassy sweetlips for tonight's dinner, cooked over the campfire
Day 4.
- Time to say goodbye until next time
- Fly back out to Townsville in style over spectacular Old Reef and Stanley Reef using our partners - Townsville Helicopters.
5 Night stay
Day 1.
- Settle in, take a walk around the island and climb the hill for incredible views
- Refresh with an afternoon dip in the island's swimming pool
- Watch the sun go down on sunset beach
Day 2.
- Grab your GoPro and take the family snorkelling above the reef off the shores of the island - our expert caretakers will point out the safest areas with the most beautiful coral
- Alternatively, kayak above the reef and view the out-of-this-world coral from above
- Throw in a line and spend the afternoon fishing off the jetty
- Relax around the campfire toasting some marshmallows
Day 3.
- Watch the sunrise from the top of the island's hill, hearing nothing but gentle waves and early-morning birdsong
- Take the Camp Island small boat out behind the island to cast a line into some of our favourite fishing spots; mackerel, trevally and cod (and many more) are all found around the island

Afternoon tennis match
- Raid our board game cupboard and challenge each other to jenga, chess or Uno!
Day 4.
- Take a day trip to Cape Upstart with a picnic - It's the perfect place to have a game of beach cricket and Finska (A.K.A Battle Blocks).
Day 5.
- Snorkelled and kayaked out? No problem! Take our Paddle boards out for a spin to see the island from afar - Just remember to keep your balance!
- Take a walk to sunset beach with our caretakers and let them show you how to chip some oysters off the rocks!
- Take your bounty back to the bbq and flavour those oysters in whichever way you prefer
Day 6
- Time to say goodbye, until next time!
7 Night Stay
Day 1.
- Settle in, walk around the island and climb the hill for incredible views
- Grab a speaker and relax by pool, whilst the kids splash around
- Take a walk to sunset beach and watch the sun dip low behind the hills of mainland Australia
Day 2.
- Take our snorkle sets and flippers out to the fringing reef around the island to see what the Great Barrier Reef Marine park has to offer
- When you need a rest, take a kayak (We have single and double kayaks!) and view the reef from above
- Learn about our Camp Island mud crab traps and set them with our expert caretakers, ready to collect tomorrow morning
Day 3.
- Head out to the river to collect your mud crab bounty
- Spend the morning trying out our fishing spots and get the whole family involved. We have rods for children and adults, and our caretakers can tell you where the great spots are from the shoreline
- Cook your freshly caught mudcrabs for the perfect appetizer to kick off your dinner plans
- Gather round the campfire to roast some marshmallows for dessert
Day 4.
- Watch the sunrise from the top of the hill at the top of the island
- Take the Camp Island small boat out behind the island to cast a line into some of our favourite fishing spots; mackerel, trevally and cod (and many more) are all found around the island
- Dust off those kneecaps and spend the afternoon playing a round or 2 of Tennis on our tennis courts
- Stick on a movie in our comfy living room and get cosy!
Day 5.
- Take a day trip to Cape Upstart with a picnic. It's the perfect place for beach cricket and Finska (A.K.A Battle blocks)

- Take your bounty back to the bbq and flavour those oysters in whichever way you prefer
Day 7
- Take a trip on the Camp Island barge with our caretakers for some more fishing in the bay - we have some secret local reefs we can take you to where you’re sure to catch some great fish for dinner
- Spend your last night chilling out on sunset beach, bring a speaker and some playing cards and make your last night one to remember
Day 8
- We bid you farewell, hoping to see you again soon!
