Camp Island is a sub-tropical climate and suitable to visit all year round. The average year-round temperature is 24°C (76°F). November to March typically has higher temperatures (average day time temperature 27°C, 81°F) and higher rainfall but typically in the form of a tropical shower which is generally brief.
We have wallabies, echidnas, sea eagles, the Torres Strait pidgeon and other bird life.
Camp Island Lodge is not recommended for children under seven due to its proximity to the ocean. There is no fencing between the Lodges and the water.
Low level villas and living areas make the lodge unsuitable for wheelchairs or mobility restricted guests.
The Island is accessible by boat or helicopter. Complimentary boat transfers are offered from the boat ramp at Elliott River, Guthalungra. Access at Elliott River is tidal – please contact us for tide times for the day of your arrival and departure. Transfer time is approximately 20 minutes. Please allow plenty of time to arrive at the departure point as late arrival may require your transfer to be delayed to the next suitable tidal window or following day.
Guthalungra is a two-hour drive from Townsville Airport and 90 minutes from Proserpine Airport. Car hire is available from both airports or we can recommend bus transfer companies. Cars can be left close to the Elliott River boat ramp. As your vehicle will be unattended it is recommended you do not leave any valuables in the car.
We accept private transfers by boat, sea plane or helicopter. Ask us about organising a stunning scenic Camp Island Lodge transfer with Townsville Helicopters with flight times between 45 and 60 minutes.
Schoolies, bucks or hens groups are not suitable for this property. We have a strict no party policy. Bookings will be cancelled without refund upon breach of these policies.
Pets are not permitted at Camp Island Lodge.
To date we have not had any stings on Camp Island. Stingers may be more prevalent from November – May through the Great Barrier Reef. We recommend wearing stinger/sun suits. For further information please refer to the Whitsunday Regional Council website.
It is possible for you to bring your boat to moor at our jetty – please contact us with dimensions of your boat.
Smoking is not permitted in or around Camp Island Lodge. A cleaning fee will be applied if smoke is detected in the Villas or the Lodge.

Partial rates are NOT available for smaller groups. Why? Because the great thing is that you’re booking an Island, not just a hotel room!
